I have a host running VMware Server v1.02. On that host I have a virtual machine running Windows Server 2003 with a single IDE disk (drive1.vmdk).
I would like to move this virtual machine to an ESX Server (v3.5), however, I find that I must have a SCSI drive and not an IDE drive. I found a KB article detailing how to convert from IDE to SCSI on a GSX server (http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1881), but I have tried this procedure twice with no luck. When I follow this procedure in KB1881 and add the disk to a virtual machine, when the machine is powered on, it goes into a quick loop, rebooting itself over and over and displaying the attached blue screen.
Does anyone have any experience converting IDE to SCSI on VMware Server? If so, I'd love to get some help on this...
Thanks!
Rob
