Recently I have been frequently faced with the fact that using a VM completely freezes my laptop. The only way to resolve this situation is to completely power down the laptop (using the power button, since nothing responds anymore).
This situation occurs regardless whether I run a Windows or a Linux guest.
I am using VMWare Server Console 1.0.1 build 29996 on Dell Latitude D620.
My host system is Ubuntu Edgy using the 2.6.17-10-generic kernel.
I have 2Gb internal memory (of which I normally assign 1Gb to the VM and never have more than 1 VM running).
My questions are:
1. Does any one else encounter this problem?
2. Does any one know what may be causing this?
3. Is there a way that I can check (for example by examining a log) what may have caused the situation?
4. Is there a solution to the problem?
