Hi,
i'm running VMware-server-1.0.9-156507 on a SLES 10 Box. This worked for years fine. I have Windows XP, SLES 10 and SLES 11 as guests. Currently i'm trying to create a guest with SLES 10 to test a software installation. This guest is a clone from a physical machine. I copied all the files from the PM, adjusted /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/menu.lst, but the guest stops booting with "GRUB Loading stage1.5. GRUB loading, please wait..., Error 2.".
The only message in the vmware.log i found which seems to show a problem was "Feb 29 18:20:04: mks| SOCKET 1 new update req with non-empty pending: logical error on server/client?" Is this something severe ? Currently i'm not able to boot the guest, also with a Knoppix-CD not possible. I try to attach the Knoppix-CD via the host, via a ISO-File ... doesn't work.
The vm resides on an external harddisk, attached via USB. Could this cause the problem ? What also seems strange for me, is that i don't see the harddisk in the BIOS of the vm. Could this be a problem ? Although i checked this with other vm's, some of them also have no harddisk in the BIOS but run fine.
Thanks for any help.
Bernd
