I've been given a .vmx file (and some small associated files) that have an Ubuntu system on it which I need to run. I installed VMWare Server (the free download) on a Windows XP PC (it installed ok but complained about not having IIS running). When I try to launch the .vmx file, it says
Unable to add virtual machine "H:\Documents and Settings\tshomr01\Desktop\Ubuntu 8.10 - Copy\Ubuntu 8.10.vmx" to the inventory:
Configuration file was created by a VMware product with more features than this version
any idea what I need to do? Am I opening it in the wrong product? Is IIS really necessary for this? Is there something extra I need to download/install to get it to open?
thanks in advance!
Mike
