Removing Snaphot

Recently I took the snapshot and noticed that it was keep growing so I did some testing and bring the production server down and tried to remove the snapshot from the VMWare Server console.

After waiting for few minute, I got an error Pipe is broken and I was disconnected from the Console. When I tried to connect again then it give an error "vmware-serverd" Service is not running.

So, I restarted the services and was finally able to connect to the Console but was not able to connect to the VM for which I was deleting the snapshot. So, I restarted the server and after that I was able to connect but the problem was the snapshot files were gone but the child file (size 20 GB) was still there.

I took another snapshot and tried to remove the snapshot again but was disconnected again from the console but this time I waited long enough and the Removing the Snaphot action was completed.

But the delta file or child file from previous snaphot was still there.

My question is -

1. Is this child/delta file still in use?

2. How can I commit the changes to the primary virtual disk file and remove this delta file to free up space?

Any suggestion will be very helpful.

Thank you in Advance.
