\[BUG] USB bug when using dongle

Dear,

there is a bug when using a dongle in a vmware guest.

VMwareserver: 1.02 en 1.03

Host: Linux scofield 2.6.18-4-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 26 11:36:53 CEST 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and I am seeing the same on Ubuntu Feisty

Guest: Windows XP Professional

When you start the guest and you add the dongle by using the menu: VM, Removable Devices, USB Devices, SafeNet Inc. Usb UltraPro.  The dongle works like expected.

However when you stop the guest and the guest starts up again, things go wrong.  The dongle is now automatically connected because it was assigned.  However when you look in device manager it is recognised as an unknown device.

The only way to use the dongle is to deassign it by using the menu before rebooting or stopping the guest.

I really want to help in getting this annoyed bug fixed.

Is there anything else I can try to get this working?

Do I need to post the bug somewhere else?

This is the log (i stripped everything that has to do with usb) when things go correctly (so manually assigning it):

Aug 24 10:21:21: vmx| DICT             tag.usbConfig = devices_usb.htm
