I'm Running VMWare Server 1.0.3 on Windows 2003 SP2, VMWare Server Console 1.0.3 on Windows XP x64 SP2, and a guest OS with Windows XP SP2.
When trying to add an audio device, I cannot select a host sound adapter. That might be correct, because the server doesn't have a sound card. It doesn't need one too. The client does have a sound card, but then I see the small text that says audio is not available for remote connections.
Now what do I do to get sound in the guest OS? I added a disconnected sound adapter because "connect at power on" gives me the above error. But the guest OS cannot play an audio file, it says there's no audio playback device. I need a working sound adapter (whether I can hear anything is not important) in order to process a video file.
And why is there an option to add a sound adapter if it doesn't even work? I mean, seriously, who's gonna play with VM's on their server locally??
Anyway, I need a sound adapter. How?
