Install VMtools on a Linux (CentOS 5.2) guest from a Windows Server 2000 host

I have installed VMware Server 1.0.6 - build 91891 on a Windows Server 2000 box.  My guest O/S is CentOS 5.2.  I have ready many guidlines for installing VMtools - but had had no success.  I do not understand if I already have the image file equivalent (.iso), or where to obtain it.  What do I need to download, if anything, to get VMtools and where it is available?
