Scenario: I have the disk from an old 386 PC, which I need to get some data off of. I have attached it to my Win2k PC, and can read the C: partition, but the D: Partition has only one file of 20.9MB (SSPARTSS.ADD) which I believe to be an AddStor compressed drive. I need to get hold of the data within this.
Actions so far: Created a DOS virtual Machine, and told it to use the Physical disk to work from - when I boot it just says "missing operating system". So tried to boot from a floppy (Balder) but no joy, so took a step back and tried ODIN instead - this booted and I can see contents of A: (ODIN boot disk) and D: the Hidden System FIle SSPARTSS.ADD. I can write to A: as well. I can switch to C: but if I try to do a dir it just hangs. I was able to copy superpck.exe from the DRDOS directory to the A: drive, but it just hangs when I run it.
I can see the entire contents of the C: drive from Windows, and there doesn's seem to be a problem with it at all...
Anybody Help???
