I recently added a second monitor to my host computer (dell M6500 Precision laptop) and when I run my virtual machines in full-screen mode, the entire desktop of the virtual machine flickers and flashes. If anything opens, such as messages from the OS or when I open any application, the flickering stops.
I've tried resetting resolutions on both the host and client; I've tried removing and reinstalling vmtools; I've tried turning 3D Acceleration off on the host (I don't think it's present on the client). I'm almost to point of blood sacrifice and bead shaking.
I've noticed that when I change to full-screen mode, depending on the resolution of the virtual machine, the resolution on my second monitor can change even though the virtual machine is on the laptop monitor.
For my dual monitor setup, the laptop is the primary monitor and my second monitor is both rotated and configured with a different resolution than the laptop.
One option I've considered is updating my vmware to the latest version in the hopes that updated drivers might fix the problem.
First, can this be fixed without updating to the latest version? Second, would updating to the latest version actually fix the problem?
