Guest VMs work fine except cannot ping Guest VMs on another physical box

I have VMWare 1.0.3 installed on two Windows 2003 Server 64-bit edition boxes, each with two NICs but each with one enabled and the other disabled.  The disabled one is on the board and cannot be removed.

I've explicitly set the enabled NIC adapter in the networking options.

I've had these two VMWare boxes over a year and the following problem has only recently occurred:

The VMs on each machine are set up for Bridged networking and, within each box, life is good.  VMs can ping each other and the host and the host can ping its guest VMs.  Also, each host can ping the other host's VMs.  All of the VMs on both boxes can talk to the Internet.

The problem is that while hostA can ping hostB's VMs and vis versa, hostA's VMs cannot ping hostB's VMs, nor can hostB's VMs ping hostA's VMs.

I can't figure out why the VMs of one machine are not on speaking terms with the VMs on the other machine, yet they are all part of the same network, Active Directory domain, etc.

Ideas?

Thanks!
