Hi,
I was using a Linux LiveCD inside a VM (no hard disk, the filesystem is loaded in memory, in this case 512MB). I saved some files in this environment (not the best idea, I know) and before I could transfer the files to the host OS, the system crashed.
I have the .vmem file, since the filesystem was in memory is there any possibility of accessing the data in the .vmem?
I was able with photorec (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec) to recover some parts of text files inside the .vmem. I also tried to create a snapshot and replace the .vmem created with the first one but it didn't work (vmware ignored the snapshot). Any other options?
Thanks,
