Can't clone VMs in 1.0.6 server

I have a WinXP 32bit working VM tuned for VMware server 1.0.6.

I have no issues at all with this machine. I copy it to another location, change its name in both .vmx file and into the virtual disk file (.vmdk).

Then I try to run this copy and I just get "Invalid Virtual Machine" error.I don't even get prompted to change its UUID, nothing.

I have no logs at all, no server logs, no Event Viewer logs where this problem appears.
