shutdown of guest takes long / lot of disk-writes

Hello Community,

first some information about my system:

Ubuntu 8.04 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.24-21

VMWare Server 1.0.7

Intel Core2 Duo 2.66GHz

Shutdown of a Windows2000 guest takes up to 10 minutes.

In the vmware-server-console I see that the Guest OS is shutdown. But then I takes some minutes to power off the VM.

In this time VMware writes about 6mb per second to the disk that contains the VM. On the disk there is only this VM.

So no other service or no other VM produces this disk writes.

Here are the corresponding entries from the vmware.log:

Thanks in advance.
