I have a Dell PowerEdge 2650 server (RAID 1 - C; RAID 5 - E) that is a Windows 2003 R2 domain controller. I trying to perform a test restore of the entire system from offsite backup. I have the files and file permissions backed up offsite along with the NTBackup System State. After I restore the system state, I get a Blue screen with a 7B error code. This is the procedure I am using for the Physical to Virtual conversion.
Perform full backup of all files on the server to the offsite data service.
Perform a NTBackup of the system state and send to the offsite data service.
Build a VM with standard Win2k3 Standard settings (LSI SCSI)
Perform an installation of Win2K3 STD R2 and update to latest service pack and updates
Download the system state from the offsite data service.
Reboot into Directory Services restore
Use NTBackup to restore the system state to the original location
When I reboot, blue screen. I have tried both Buslogic and LSI scsi types. Does anyone have suggestions on where to go.
