I have VMWare server 1.08 on CentOS 5.3 with Windows server 2003 guests. the vm is using non-preallocated 2gb split files. I'm trying to shrink the vm using VMWare tools. After the "prepare to shrink" process is complete and I click on "Shrink now" after a few minutes, (this time varies somewhat) the virtual machine will shutdown. I have a 2nd vm on this host as well and it shuts down as well. The host is a Dell 2900 with 2 quad core processors and 32 gb ram and appx 1tb storage in raid 5. I've checked memory and cpu usage during the process and memory is low, cpu reaches over 100% for brief periods but goes back down. Any idea what may be causing this?
I'm not a "linux" person, but am learning.
I appreciate any help.
thanks
